Privacy Policy — Vidshare

Last updated: 16 October 2026
Publisher: Sajmonsoft
App: Vidshare (com.vidshare.vidshare2)
Website: https://sajmonsoft.eu/

1. What this app is

Vidshare is a watch-together app. One device hosts a local room (HTTP + WebSocket) and serves video files from a folder chosen by the host. Other devices join that room by address (for example on the same LAN or over a VPN such as Tailscale). The app does not require a cloud account and is not an online streaming service run by Sajmonsoft.

2. Scope

This policy applies to the Vidshare app published by Sajmonsoft. It does not cover Tailscale or other VPNs, browsers used outside the app, or third-party websites linked from the app (including Tailscale documentation).

3. Data handling

Sajmonsoft does not operate a backend that receives personal data from this app. In normal use the app communicates only between devices that the user chooses to connect (host and guests).

When hosting, the app may read the video folder the user selected and serve those video files and their file names to guests in the room. Playback sync (play, pause, seek, current film, admin role) is exchanged over the local WebSocket relay. The app may show the device’s local network addresses so the host can share how to join.

On the device the app may store the last chosen video folder path and the last join address. These stay on the device.

The app does not collect name, email, phone number, contacts, precise location, photos (beyond videos the host chooses to share in a room), microphone audio, advertising ID, payment data, or account credentials.

4. Permissions

On Android the app may request network access (to host or join a room), wake lock (to keep the screen awake while watching), and access to video files / storage so the host can point at a folder of videos. Permission is used only for those features.

5. Third parties

The app does not use advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs for tracking. An optional link may open Tailscale’s public quickstart documentation in an external browser. If the user joins a host outside the local network (for example via VPN), traffic goes to that host under the user’s responsibility.

6. Local storage and choices

Stored preferences can be cleared in Android app settings or by uninstalling the app. The saved folder path and join address can be changed in the app. Hosting and joining are optional; only share a room address with people you trust, and only host folders you are willing to stream to them.

7. Children

The app is a general utility for synchronized local playback and is not directed at children under 13. It does not collect personal data from children.

8. Changes

This policy may be updated when the app’s data practices change. The “Last updated” date will be revised. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
